Zen Cafe Countryside is a small resort of eight well-equipped bungalows in Da Long village, Dam Rong County, Lam Dong — in the southern Vietnamese highlands at roughly 650 metres elevation. Axel from Germany and his Vietnamese wife Dung opened the property in 2023 after years running Zen Cafe Lakeside in Dalat, seeking a quieter countryside setting with fresh air cool enough to skip air conditioning.
The surrounding landscape is a draw for nature lovers, photographers, cyclists, bikers, hikers, joggers, and bird watchers: mountains, valleys, hot springs, waterfalls, lakes, rocky rivers, coffee and cocoa farms, and traditional wooden villages with welcoming locals. On site, guests enjoy fresh local healthy food, a serene atmosphere suited to yoga and meditation, and bungalow stays ranging from intimate doubles to two-level family and de luxe units.
Dam Rong sits about 100 km from Dalat airport and 125 km from Buon Ma Thuot airport (~2.5 hours by car). The team helps organise transfers from Saigon, Dalat, Buon Ma Thuot, or for motorbike travellers.
After more than a decade in hospitality and six years managing Zen Cafe Lakeside in busy Dalat, Axel and Dung discovered Da Long village — a tranquil forest-and-valley pocket where they could build a countryside haven. Since 2023, Zen Cafe Countryside has offered cozy bungalows for guests who want highland coolness, unhurried days, and direct access to trails and farms without Dalat's tourist bustle.
