Frequently Asked Questions

Q1:Are you accepting new patients, and how do I book?

Yes. Online booking is the primary way to schedule, and the practice also asks that routine questions about fees, insurance, services, contact lenses and records go to Info@ParkSlopeEye.com. Eye exams and other clinical visits are by appointment only.

Q2:Which vision and medical insurance plans do you take?

Park Slope Eye is in network with VSP, EyeMed and UFT vision plans. It also participates with Aetna, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, First Health, Health Net, Medicare, MetroPlus, MultiPlan, Oxford, PHCS, Principal, UnitedHealthcare and Fidelis medical plans. It does not accept Medicaid, including Medicaid products administered through private insurers. Davis Vision and Spectera are out of network.

Q3:What does an eye exam cost if I am paying myself?

The published self-pay price for a new-patient comprehensive eye exam is $202.17 and for an established patient $148.72, with a refraction at $58.83 when performed. These prices already include a 15% discount for paying at the time of service. Retinal imaging ($39.00), OCT screening ($26.50) and contact lens services are separate.

Q4:Is a DMV vision test included with my eye exam?

Yes. A New York DMV vision test is included at no additional charge with your annual comprehensive eye exam, and current patients who completed their annual exam there also receive it at no separate charge. The practice is an authorized New York DMV Vision Registry provider and reports qualifying results electronically.

Q5:Do I have to buy glasses or contacts from you to get my prescription?

No. When a refraction is performed, the practice provides your eyeglass prescription, and when a contact lens fitting is complete it provides your contact lens prescription. There is no purchase requirement and no extra fee to release it.

Q6:What is the cancellation policy?

The practice asks for at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice and missed appointments are subject to a $100 fee, and exceptions may be made at the practice's discretion.

Q7:Is the office wheelchair accessible?

No. The site states that the office is not step-free or wheelchair accessible, and that there is no accessible restroom.
