Frequently Asked Questions

Q1:How much does a session cost?

The initial assessment is $185 for 70 minutes and follow-up sessions are $150 for 53 minutes. The practice accepts cash, check, credit card or HSA/FSA funds and says to ask about bundled rates.

Q2:Which insurance plans do you accept?

The practice says it is in network with Aetna PPO, Adventist Health Employee Health Plan, Blue Shield of California PPO, Cigna PPO, Humboldt IPA (certain HMO plans with Blue Shield and Anthem), Sutter HMO, TRICARE West, Medicare Part B (diabetes and kidney disease only) and Medi-Cal through Partnership HealthPlan of California. Insurance does not guarantee coverage, and the team will help verify benefits.

Q3:What if you do not accept my insurance?

The practice offers out-of-network courtesy billing: it collects the full amount at the time of service, submits the claim on your behalf and assigns reimbursement to you. It can also provide a superbill if you prefer to file the claim yourself. Not all plans cover out-of-network providers.

Q4:Do I need a referral?

The site says California state licensure law requires a referral from a physician with a diagnosis, even with a PPO plan, and that the team can help request one during intake. It says no referral is needed for Kaiser members.

Q5:Are sessions in person or virtual?

Both. The practice offers in-person appointments at its downtown Napa office and virtual telehealth appointments through a HIPAA secure platform.

Q6:How many sessions can I expect?

It depends on the condition. The site says most clients can begin to see progress with a minimum of three sessions, and that you can expect to see your dietitian every 2 to 3 weeks, with weekly sessions for eating disorder recovery.

Q7:Can you help me lose weight?

The site says the dietitians are comfortable discussing weight concerns and body image and offer evidence-based insights, that weight might shift as a result of the work, and that the practice can never promise weight loss.

Q8:How do I get started?

Review the Insurance & Rates page, submit the short inquiry form, take an intake call in which the team answers questions and matches you with a dietitian, then complete paperwork and book your first session through the secure client portal. Texting the practice also works.
