Frequently Asked Questions

Q1:Are appointments in person or virtual?

Telehealth appointments are available statewide to patients physically located in California, and patients in the Bay Area may choose in-person appointments at the Campbell office, by appointment only.

Q2:What does a first session cost and how long is it?

The initial nutrition assessment is 60 minutes and costs $240. Follow-up appointments are 45 minutes and cost $180. A 15-minute discovery call is free and is not a clinical appointment.

Q3:Do I need a referral?

The site says that under California law a referral and signed written order from a healthcare provider authorized to prescribe dietary treatment are required before medical nutrition therapy can begin. The order should include the diagnosis and a treatment objective or diet order, and a provider can send it by online form or fax.

Q4:What insurance do you accept?

The practice says it is in the process of becoming credentialed with major insurance providers. It can verify your nutrition benefits for you, or you can use its call script to ask your insurer, and verification does not guarantee coverage or payment.

Q5:Can I pay without insurance?

Yes. Self-pay is available, a superbill can be provided when appropriate for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and HSA and FSA cards may generally be used for eligible services.

Q6:What happens at the first appointment?

The first visit reviews your health history, routines, preferences and goals, and you leave with an initial personalized plan rather than a generic handout.

Q7:What is the cancellation policy?

The site asks for at least 24 hours' notice. A late cancellation carries a $50 fee, and a missed appointment is charged the full appointment fee. Insurance does not cover those fees.

Q8:Who can you see?

The practice supports adolescents from age 13, adults and older adults. For clients under 18 a parent or legal guardian is involved as appropriate.
