About this getaway
Abbie's Garden is a father-and-daughter bed and breakfast in Grand Bank, on Newfoundland's Burin Peninsula, about ten kilometres from the ferry to St. Pierre et Miquelon. The house was built as a private family home in 1997. After Abbie-Belle passed away in 2012, Bruce opened the first suites above the garage and named the place for her gardens. Donna later came from Ontario to run the inside of the house with him.
This is not a B&B inside the main house. Five suites sit in three buildings outside: the Loft (Ocean Side and Garden View), the Cottage (Grande and Petite), and a private 32-foot two-bedroom RV at the back of the property. Each suite has its own walk-out to a sundeck over the gardens. Season runs May through October.
Breakfast is a full hot meal in the main house, daily from 8 to 10am (from 7am when guests are catching the 9:30am ferry). Homemade tea biscuits and jam, yogurt, pancakes, bacon and eggs to order, juice, coffee or tea. Fresh eggs come from their hen house. Guests share Wi-Fi, individual A/C and heat, four-piece en suites (three-piece in the RV), hypoallergenic duvets, Egyptian cotton linens, robes and slippers, laundry, and a BBQ. There is a fire pit out back when the weather allows, and a walking trail cut behind the hen house.
Around the property: six Burin Peninsula trails, kayaks and zodiac tours from New Age Rentals, Grande Meadows golf, the Seamen's Museum, Grand Bank Regional Theatre, and the day ferry to St. Pierre on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Built as a private family home in 1997. After Abbie-Belle died in 2012, Bruce converted the loft over the garage into the first guest suites and named the place for her gardens. Donna moved from Ontario in 2013 to run reservations and the house with him. The Cottage followed, then a private RV during the COVID years for guests who wanted more privacy.

Are the rooms inside the main house?
No. Suites are in three buildings outside the main house: the Loft, the Cottage, and a private RV. Guests come to the main house for breakfast.
