About
Fazenda Catuçaba is a former coffee farm of 700 hectares, surrounded by protected forest in a mountain range of São Paulo state. The official Catuçaba page puts the main house in 1850, and says descendants of its builders still inhabit these walls. Food is grown and cooked here: persimmon, greens, manioc flour, vegetable soup. Guests are asked to recognise birds by their calls, wake with the sun, and drink water from the place.
The who-we-are page names Emmanuel Rengade as founder. He settled in Brazil in 1998, began at Picinguaba on the coast, then took Catuçaba as the mountain chapter: a large land committed to the regeneration of people and nature. Bianca is named as executive director from 2016. The same page calls Picinguaba and Catuçaba healing centres and schools of nature, and hosts groups of up to 20 for transformational retreats. This field guide is the mountain farm, not the sea house. Reservations are printed at info@catucaba.com and +55 12 99104-8484. A nightly rate is not printed on those pages.
