Frequently Asked Questions

Q1:How much does it cost?

Rates depend on the length of the appointment and are listed on the booking page. Initial assessments are 55 minutes and follow-up pelvic health appointments are 40 minutes. Shorter 25 minute follow-ups are sometimes appropriate, although a 40 minute follow-up is usually recommended for pelvic health issues.

Q2:How many sessions will I need?

The site suggests booking at least two or three follow-up appointments after the initial assessment, typically one to three weeks apart, ideally at the same time as the initial appointment. How many are needed varies from person to person, and the aim is that you do not need Kate in the long run.

Q3:Is pelvic floor physiotherapy covered by extended health, and do you direct bill?

It is covered if physiotherapy is a benefit under your extended health plan, and the percentage and maximums vary by plan. Direct billing is available for most extended health providers including Pacific Blue Cross, Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Green Shield and providers registered with Telus eclaims, and other providers receive an emailed receipt. Direct billing to MSP, WorkSafe BC and ICBC is not offered, and WorkSafe BC and ICBC claims are not taken at this time.

Q4:What is the cancellation policy?

The policy is 24 hours' notice, otherwise the full appointment fee applies. The site says the practice is a practice of one with a waitlist, and suggests switching to a virtual appointment if you cannot make it into the clinic. Cancellation fees cannot be billed to insurance.

Q5:What does a first pelvic floor session look like?

A first visit starts with a detailed health history and a conversation about symptoms and goals, usually with a short anatomy lesson. An internal pelvic exam happens only sometimes, and never if you do not want one, and a virtual session has no pelvic exam but often includes a movement screen.

Q6:Can I bring my baby with me?

Yes, babies are welcome, although the site encourages coming on your own if you can so that you can focus on yourself.

Q7:Do you treat people who are not pregnant, men, or people over 65?

Yes. The site says it treats people who have not had babies, men, and people of all ages, and that menopause and peri menopause are a common time for pelvic floor symptoms to appear.
