Frequently Asked Questions

Q1:Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. Virtual sessions are provided through a secure telehealth platform. Dr. White is registered in Alberta and sees Alberta clients virtually; in-person sessions are available only at his Winnipeg location.

Q2:How much does a session cost and how do I pay?

As of January 1, 2023, a one-hour individual session is $220, consistent with the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta and Manitoba Psychological Society fee schedules. Payment is made by e-transfer at the time of each appointment, and you will receive a receipt to submit to your insurer if you have extended health coverage. Private psychological services are not covered by Alberta health care.

Q3:What kinds of concerns do you work with?

Dr. White works with adults 18 and older on sport, work, and performance goals as well as mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, and self-esteem. Roughly half of his clients are athletes, performers, and executives, and half are people from the broader community.

Q4:What therapy approaches do you use?

Dr. White uses an eclectic, evidence-based approach. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a cornerstone, and he also draws on mindfulness training, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). For athletes and performers, he combines these clinical methods with practical mental performance strategies.

Q5:How often will I come to therapy?

In most cases the recommended frequency is a single one-hour session once per week. This pace helps maintain momentum without diminishing returns. The right frequency is ultimately decided collaboratively based on your needs.

Q6:How do I book an appointment?

The best way to reach Dr. White is by email at caelin@caelinwhitepsychologist.com. He will help you arrange a first appointment, which is an opportunity to discuss your goals and confirm that the fit is right before starting therapy.
